Truro – The Weeks Crushers were busy at the 2024 MHL Draft over the weekend that took place in Truro. The Crushers has two picks in the first round and added some size by selecting defenseman Cohen Pictou and forward Owen Bell, both of who suited up for the CB West Islanders last season.
Prior to the 2nd round, the Crushers made a big splash acquiring local sniper Lucas Canning and two picks (5th rd & 6th rd) in exchange for defenseman Cam McKenzie, prospects Ben Lindsay, Nic Crosbie and two picks (2nd & 3rd rd). Lucas will add size and scoring to a line up that will be returning the likes of Ben Mercer, Carter Murchison, Logan O’Neil and Lane Lochead.
The Crushers continued to add skill with their next two picks, grabbing forward Charlie Benigno from the Cole Harbour Wolfpack and defenseman Luke MacEachern from the CB West Islanders. Forwards Ethan Percy from the East Coast Blizzard and Campbell Barrett of the CB West Islanders were the next two players selected. The Crushers added two more forwards to close out the draft. Connor Hussey of the Pinnacle Growlers and Rory Pilling of the Sydney Rush.
