Bearcats Advance To Bent Final
Game # 5 Bent Division Semi-Final
The Truro Bearcats (4-1) hung on to defeat the Pictou County Weeks Crushers (3-4) 2-1 Sunday night in Truro in game # 5 of a Bent Division Semi-Final.
With the win, Truro wins the series 4-1 and will await the winner of the Amherst-Yarmouth series.
Dana Fraser opened the scoring at 13:23 to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead after the first period. There was no second period scoring. Stephen Walker (game winner) scored at 7:12 to extend the lead to 2-0. Jamie Caron scored at 16:02 to get the Crushers on the scoreboard at 2-1 but that would be as close as they would get.
Truro went 0 for 3 on the powerplay while Pictou County went 0 for 6.
Richard Gagnon stopped 35 of 36 shots for the win while Alexandre Quessy (57:43) stopped 26 of 28 shots in the loss. Alex Newman played 1:27 in the second period and stopped the only shot he faced.

after the first period. Pearson (game winner) scored at 10:21 to extend
the lead to 2-0 after the second period. Michael Hynes (shorthanded)
scored at 19:12 to cut the lead in half at 2-1 but that would be as
close as they would get.
Truro went 1 for 5 on the powerplay while Pictou County went 0 for 4.
Richard Gagnon stopped 30 of 31 shots for the win while Alexandre Quessy stopped 19 of 21 shots in the loss.
Game # 5 in this series will take place on Sunday night in Truro. The
Bearcats will be looking to close out this series. Game time is set for
7:00pm.

The Pictou County Weeks Crushers (3-1) blanked the Truro Bearcats (1-1) 2-0 Monday night in New Glasgow.
With the win, the series is tied 1-1.
Sean Hoyt (game winner) opened the scoring just 13 seconds into the
game to give the Crushers an early 1-0 lead after the first period.
There was no second period scoring. Geoff Hum (empty net) added an
insurance goal at 19:55 to seal the victory.
Pictou County went 0 for 2 on the powerplay while Truro went 0 for 2.
Alexandre Quessy stopped all 25 shots for the shutout victory while Richard Gagnon stopped 22 of 23 shots in the loss.

Game # 1 Bent Division Semi-Final
The Truro Bearcats (1-0) edged the Pictou County Weeks Crushers (2-1) 4-3 in double overtime Saturday night in Truro in game # 1 of a Bent Division Semi-Final.
Dana Fraser led the Bearcats with 1 goal and 2 assists while Jeff McNeil added 3 assists.
Kevin MacLean (powerplay) scored at 4:12 to give the Crushers an early
1-0 lead. Steve Pearson (powerplay) scored at 9:20 to tie the game at
1-1. Michael Hynes (unassisted shorthanded) scored at 19:18 to regain
the lead for Pictou County at 2-1. Jon Reid (powerplay) scored 41
seconds later to knot the score at 2-2 after the first period. Jonathan
McArthur (powerplay) scored at 18:55 to give the Bearcats the lead at
3-2 after the second period. Chris Dart scored at 3:56 to deadlock the
score at 3-3 and force extra time. There was no scoring in the first
overtime period. Fraser (game winner) scored at 11:50 of the second
overtime period to give Truro the win.
Truro went 3 for 6 on the powerplay while Pictou County went 1 for 5.
Richard Gagnon stopped 26 of 29 shots for the win while Alexandre Quessy stopped 44 of 48 shots in the loss.

The Pictou County Weeks Crushers (2-0) doubled the Bridgewater Nauss TIM-BR Mart Lumberjacks (0-2)6-3 Tuesday night in Bridgewater.
With the win, Pictou County wins the Best of 3 Bent Division Mini-Series 2-0 and will now face the division winning Truro Bearcats in a Best of 7 Semi-Final Series starting this weekend.

Mickey MacDonald opened the scoring at 6:45 to give the hometown
Lumberjacks a 1-0 lead. O'Donnell (powerplay) scored at 9:33 to tie the
score at 1-1. Andrew Joudrey (powerplay) scored 22 seconds later at
9:55 to give the Crushers the lead at 2-1. Matt Stoddard scored 58
seconds after that to knot the game at 2-2. O'Donnell (second goal of
game) scored at 15:35 to retake the lead for Pictou County at 3-2 after
the first period. Paul Ross (powerplay) scored at 5:01 to deadlock the
score at 3-3. Little (powerplay, game winner) scored at 18:33 to give
the Crushers the lead at 4-3 after the second period. O'Donnell
(powerplay, third goal of game) scored just 39 seconds into the third
period to extend the lead to 5-3. Little (unassisted empty net) rounded
out the scoring at 18:45.
Pictou County went 4 for 12 on the powerplay while Bridgewater went 2 for 11.
Alexandre Quessy stopped 28 of 31 shots for the win while Mike Muir stopped 26 of 31 shots in the loss.
Ben Cameron receives a cheque for $1000.00 from League Chairman John Lynn and Royal Bank Branch Manager Kayis Doyle. Ben is the recipient of $1000.00 Bursary for the MJAHL and is a finalist for the RBC $5000.00 Bursary which will be awarded in April at the Royal Bank Cup

With the win, Pictou County leads the Best of 3 Bent Division Mini-Series 1-0.
After a scoreless opening 40 minutes, Taylor Epp (unassisted) opened
the scoring at 3:56 to give the Crushers a 1-0 lead. Matt Binnington
scored at 11:30 to tie the game at 1-1. Robbie Little scored 33 seconds
later to regain the Pictou County lead for good.
Pictou County went 0 for 5 on the powerplay while Bridgewater went 0 for 6.
Alexandre Quessy stopped 22 of 23 shots for the win while Mike Muir stopped 29 of 31 shots in the loss.
