“Jean
“Gentleman” Beliveau was one of the all - time classiest players in the
NHL, both on the ice and off,” states Ed MacLaren, Co-Chairman of the
Scott Weeks Celebrity Golf Tournament slated for July 17-18th
in Abercrombie “and we are honoured that he will be our marquee guest
this year.” Mr. Beliveau played 18 seasons with the Montreal
Canadians, winning ten Stanley Cups and made ten All-Star game
appearances. He is a two time Hart Trophy winner and also captured the
Conn Smythe trophy as MVP in the 1965 playoffs. He is the leading
scorer of all time for Montreal
as well as the all-time leading scorer in Stanley Cup history to this
day. As once stated by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, “rarely has the
career of an athlete been so exemplary.”

have an ambassador of the game like Jean Beliveau join a list of
incredible hockey personalities who have participated in our event
which is so important to the development of our hockey programs and our
student athletes.” As in the past, many Maritime hockey personalities
will be profiled at this event all of whom have played at the College,
Major Junior and Professional Level including local favourite Lowell
MacDonald and Weeks Major Midgets alumni Colin White, Jon Sim, Derek
Walser and Joey MacDonald. Past marquee celebrities have included Yvan
Courneyor, Bobby Hull, Brad Park, Gerry Cheevers, Lanny MacDonald, Doug
Gilmour, Mike Bossy, Darrell Sittler, Al MacInnis and Marcel Dionne.

President of the Weeks Hockey Organization states “this golf tournament
is the foundation of the Scott Weeks Bursary Program which has provided
financial support to forty-three (43) members of our Weeks Alumni
family.” Last year five (5) $1750 bursaries were awarded to current
and former Weeks Major Midget and Junior A Crushers players who have
demonstrated athletic and academic excellence and social responsibility.
