TERRY O’REILLY AND RICK MIDDLETON TO BE MARQUEE GUESTS AT 2010 WEEKS CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNAMENT
This year we are excited to have two former captains of the Boston Bruins Terry O'Reilly and Rick Middleton be our Marquee Guests at this year’s 2010 Scott Weeks Celebrity Golf Tournament. O'Reilly was nicknamed "Taz" by coach Don Cherry and was well known for his reckless, hard driving, non-stop style of play. Terry spent his entire career in Boston, serving as the captain of the Bruins team during the 1983-84 and 1984-85 seasons before his retirement. Joining Terry is fellow teammate, Rick Middleton, a twelve year veteran and also a former Captain of the Boston Bruins. Middleton a first round draft pick for the New York Rangers in 1974. Rick played in the Canada Cup in 1981 and 1984. Middleton was one of very few players in the NHL who was strong on both the power-play and as a penalty killer. He retired from the game after recording 448 goals, 540 assists for 988 in 1005 games. Marty Malcolm, Co-Chairman of this year’s Scott Weeks Celebrity Golf Tournament is delighted to have these two great Boston Bruins Captains at this event July 15th and 16th at the Abercrombie Golf Club.
In the past at this event many Maritime hockey personalities have been profiled, all of whom have played at the College, Major Junior and Professional Level including local favourite Lowell MacDonald and Weeks Major Midgets alumni Colin White, Jon Sim, Derek Walser and Joey MacDonald. Past marquee celebrities have included Wendel Clark, Jean Beliveau, Yvan Courneyor, Bobby Hull, Brad Park, Gerry Cheevers, Lanny MacDonald, Doug Gilmour, Mike Bossy, Darrell Sittler, Al MacInnis and Marcel Dionne.
