Crushers take Lead of Series - Game 6 Monday night at Stadium

The Pictou County Weeks Junior A Crushers have placed the Truro Bearcats on notice after a 4-2 victory in Game 5 at the Colchester Legion Stadium in Truro on Saturday evening. With the win the Crushers now lead the Bent Division series 3-2 and the Bearcats are on the brink of elimination. Weeks netminder Justin Collier pictured above was sterling in nets for the Crushers and was named second all-star. Crushers forward Michael Hynes with two goals and one assist was the first all-star while Dana Fraser of the Bearcats got the nod for third all-star. Hynes opened the scoring while Tyler Noseworthy's power play goal gave the Crushers a 2-0 lead to end the first period. Hynes had what would prove to be the game winner with an exciting short-handed goal on a breakaway. This gave the Crushers a 3-0 lead at the end of the second. Truro's Yuri Cheremetieve robbed Collier of the shutout when he scored on a power play to get the Bearcats on the scoreboard. Truro pushed hard and rallied in the third to bring it within one goal when Doug Burns scored for the Bearcats to make it 3-2. Crushers Coach Troy Dumville called a strategic time out that worked and allowed for his team to regroup. Scott McDonald added the insurance marker at 15:46 in the third which sealed the victory for the Crushers. Game 6 in the series will take place at the Crushers house- John Brother MacDonald Stadium in New Glasgow at 7:30 pm in New Glasgow.
